Best class booking systems in 2026
Seven class booking systems, compared on what they cost, how they count your bookings and what each one is worse at. Bookwhen is the clearest bookings-based price, Bookeo the fixed-price choice for a school with many teachers and rooms, Setmore the most generous free plan for a small team, and Square the one to pick if you already run your payments through it. Zenamu, our own tool, fits European studios that mix classes, courses and 1:1 sessions and want published prices. Prices were read from each vendor on 2026-09-24.
We publish this as the maker of one of the seven, so treat it accordingly. What we can promise is method: every price below came from the vendor's own pricing page on the date shown, every entry links to that page, and no entry is listed without something it is weaker at. Where a vendor publishes no figure, this page says so instead of guessing. Zenamu sits in the middle of the list rather than at the top.
Settle one question before you look at features: how does each tool count? Some charge by bookings, some by staff seats, some by location, and some take a percentage of payments. The same studio can cost $16 a month on one model and $150 on another, and that difference is bigger than any feature gap on this list.

Bookwhen
Bookwhen was built around the class timetable rather than the appointment diary, and the pricing follows the same logic: you pay for bookings, not for staff seats or locations. The free plan is real but limited to free events, so the first paid plan is where payments start. Memberships, the waiting list, passes and reminder emails all arrive on the Standard plan, which is the one most studios actually need.
Strong at
- Bookings-based pricing that does not move with your staff or location count
- Unlimited locations and classes on every paid plan
- No per-booking fee from Bookwhen; only the payment provider charges
Weaker at
- The free plan only takes bookings for free events
- Memberships, passes and the waiting list start on the $29 Standard plan
- Bookings are capped per plan, so a busy term can push you up a tier

Bookeo Classes & Courses
Bookeo sells a separate product for classes and courses, and its tiers scale by teachers, rooms and bookings rather than by feature. A booking for three people counts as one booking, which matters for family classes. Bookeo takes no commission on payments, and an account can be frozen for the off-season at a 70% reduction, which is unusual and useful for anyone who teaches in terms.
Strong at
- A dedicated classes-and-courses product, not an appointments tool with classes bolted on
- No commission on payments; the tiers are plain monthly prices
- Seasonal freeze at a 70% discount for businesses that pause between terms
Weaker at
- No free plan; the cheapest tier is $14.95 a month
- The pricing page does not say which features sit on which tier, so check before you commit
- Interface and setup feel older than the newer tools on this list

Appointy
Appointy's free plan is one of the more generous ones here: it takes card payments through Square, sends reminders and integrates with a website, and it only runs out at 100 appointments a month. The plans above it are priced per staff member, so a studio with a teaching team should model the total before comparing it with a flat-price tool. Classes and group bookings are part of the product, but the pricing page describes everything in appointments, so ask how a class of twenty counts.
Strong at
- Free plan with payments, reminders and website integration
- Stripe, PayPal and Square payments on the paid plans
- Resource scheduling and gift certificates on the Professional plan
Weaker at
- Paid plans are per staff member, so the price grows with the team
- The published prices assume annual billing
- The pricing page counts appointments, not class attendees, so the limits are hard to read for a class business

Zenamuthat is us
Our own tool, so read it with that in mind. It is built for the combination a general scheduler handles badly: a weekly class timetable, a course term with make-up sessions, workshops and private appointments in one calendar, with passes, credits and memberships on top. Every plan price and order limit is published, in ten currencies priced per market. The permanent free plan stops at 30 orders a month, which is where a working studio outgrows it.
Strong at
- Classes, multi-session courses, workshops and 1:1 appointments in one timetable
- No platform fee on Stripe and PayPal payments from the Expert plan up; the free plan takes 3% and Standard 1.5%, and bank transfers and cash are never charged
- Published prices in ten currencies, and automatic matching of incoming bank transfers on the Ultimate plan
Weaker at
- No consumer marketplace, so it will not bring you clients who have never heard of you
- The client app is a web app added to the home screen; a branded native app comes only with Enterprise, which is quote-only
- A smaller integration ecosystem than Square or Mindbody, and a name better known in Europe than in the US
- The free plan stops at 30 orders a month; courses and passes need Standard, and waitlists and memberships need Expert

Square Appointments
Square Appointments is an appointments product first, and the class booking and package features sit on the $49 Plus plan rather than the free one. What you get for that is the rest of Square: card processing, point of sale, invoices and banking in one account, which is a real advantage if you also sell retail or run a front desk. The price is per location, so a second studio doubles it.
Strong at
- Payments, point of sale and booking in one account
- Cancellation policy, no-show fees and a waitlist on the Plus plan
- A free plan for solo professionals who only need appointments
Weaker at
- Class booking is not on the free plan; it starts at $49 per month per location
- Priced per location, so multi-site studios pay per site
- Built around appointments; recurring courses and passes are not its centre of gravity

Setmore
Setmore's free plan is the most generous on this list for a small team: four users, unlimited appointments, a booking page, email reminders and group classes without paying anything. The Pro plan adds the things a growing business notices, which are SMS reminders, recurring appointments, two-way calendar sync and removing the Setmore branding. Per-user pricing stays cheap until the team grows.
Strong at
- Group classes and unlimited appointments on the free plan
- Cheap per-user pricing on the paid plan
- Payments through Square, Stripe and PayPal
Weaker at
- An appointments tool at heart; passes, memberships and course terms are not what it is built for
- Recurring appointments and SMS reminders only on the paid plan
- The pricing page does not disclose payment processing fees

SimplyBook.me
SimplyBook.me prices by bookings and by how many "custom features" you switch on: one on the free plan, three on Basic, eight on Standard, unlimited on Premium. Classes, memberships, packages and coupons are all custom features, so a studio that needs several of them lands on Standard quickly. The plans scale a long way, and there is no transaction fee on payments, which keeps the arithmetic simple once you know which features you need.
Strong at
- Free plan with 50 bookings a month and one custom feature
- No transaction fees on bookings or payments
- A wide feature catalogue, from memberships to intake forms
Weaker at
- The number of features you can enable is capped per plan, so the real price depends on your feature list
- Prices are shown in your local currency with no way to see the USD list, which makes comparison harder
- SMS credits, extra bookings and several add-ons are sold separately

How to choose between them
Start with the shape of what you sell. If most of your week is one-to-one, an appointments tool with classes added on, such as Square, Setmore or Appointy, will do and may cost nothing. If most of it is a repeating timetable with passes, a waiting list and a course that runs in terms, pick a tool that counts classes and courses as first-class objects: Bookwhen, Bookeo, SimplyBook.me or Zenamu. Adding a course term to an appointments product usually means a spreadsheet on the side.
Then run one real month through each pricing model. Count your bookings, your instructors, your locations and your card volume, and multiply each out. A per-booking cap looks cheap until September fills the timetable; a per-user price looks cheap until you add a fourth teacher; a percentage looks cheap on a quiet month and expensive on a full one. That arithmetic changes the ranking more often than any feature does.
If you want to see how we handle the class-and-course case, the studio booking software page walks through the timetable, passes and course setup, and our pricing page lists every plan price in your currency. We ran the same comparison by discipline for yoga, pilates, dance and gym and fitness businesses, where the shortlists come out differently.
Class booking system questions
What is a class booking system, and how is it different from an appointment scheduler?
A class booking system takes many bookings for one time slot: a yoga class with twenty places, a course that runs for eight weeks, a workshop with a waiting list. An appointment scheduler takes one booking per slot and is built around a diary. Several tools on this list started as appointment schedulers and added classes later, which is why their pricing counts appointments, staff or locations rather than class bookings.
Is there a free class booking system?
Yes, with limits. Setmore takes group class bookings free for up to four users. Bookwhen is free for 50 bookings a month but only for free events. Appointy is free for 100 appointments a month, SimplyBook.me for 50 bookings, and Zenamu for 30 orders a month with a 3% fee on card payments. Square Appointments has a free plan, but class booking starts on its $49 plan.
How much does a class booking system cost per month?
Published entry prices on this list run from $14.95 to $49 a month, and most businesses with a full timetable land between $30 and $60. What moves the number is how each tool counts: Bookwhen, Bookeo and SimplyBook.me by bookings, Appointy and Setmore by staff or users, Square by location, Zenamu by orders. Model your own month against each before you compare the headline prices.
Do class booking systems take a cut of payments?
Bookwhen, Bookeo, SimplyBook.me and Setmore charge no fee of their own on top of the payment provider. Square is the payment provider, at 2.9% + 30¢ online on its paid plans. Zenamu takes 3% of Stripe and PayPal payments on the free plan and 1.5% on Standard, and nothing from the Expert plan up. Bank transfers and cash are never charged by any of them.
How was this comparison put together?
Every price here was read from the vendor's own pricing page on 2026-09-24, and each entry links to the page it came from, so you can check whether it has moved since. The tools are the ones Google and its AI Overview list for "class booking system", not a selection made to flatter ours. Zenamu is our own product, which is why it sits in the middle of the list with its limitations stated alongside everyone else's.
